The ARZOPA 16.1″ 144Hz Portable Gaming Monitor (model Z1FC) offers an impressive combination of performance and portability, making it an appealing choice for gamers and professionals seeking a secondary display on the go.

Design and Build Quality.

The ARZOPA Z1FC boasts a sleek and ultra-slim profile, measuring just 0.3 inches thick and weighing approximately 1.7 lbs. Its lightweight and compact design make it highly portable, ideal for travel or mobile gaming setups. The monitor features a built-in kickstand that supports both landscape and portrait orientations with rubber feet on the kickstand and the monitor to protect your surfaces, providing versatility for various use cases.

    Display Quality.

Equipped with a 16.1-inch Full HD (1920×1080) IPS panel, the Z1FC delivers vibrant visuals with a 106% sRGB color gamut. The display offers a 144Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth motion during fast-paced activities. Brightness levels reach up to 300 nits, which is adequate for indoor use but may fall short under direct sunlight.

    Gaming Performance.

The 144Hz refresh rate is a standout feature for gaming enthusiasts. The monitor delivers fluid gameplay, enhancing the experience in fast-paced titles. While the exact response time isn’t specified, user experiences suggest it performs well for competitive gaming.

    Connectivity and Compatibility.

The Z1FC offers versatile connectivity options, including USB-C and HDMI ports, making it compatible with a wide range of devices such as laptops, smartphones, gaming consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X/S), and tablets.

    Audio and Controls.

The monitor includes built-in speakers, but their performance is generally considered subpar, with some users describing the sound as tinny. Additionally, the absence of a 3.5mm audio jack limits audio output options. The on-screen display (OSD) controls are accessible via buttons located on the top-left corner, allowing adjustments to brightness, contrast, and color settings. While the controls are functional, they may not be as intuitive as those found on some other monitors.

    User experience.

As I’m sure you are aware, there is a competitive market when it comes to portable monitors. Well fortunately there is a company out there by the name of Arzopa. They outshine other competitors on the market when it comes to specs and design, so let’s dive in and take a look!

When opening the package I was surprised to see there wasn’t a layer of protective foam but instead of that they had the protective case that they supplied with the screen for when you’re on the go! That case is a thick and durable leather like material with a soft fabric liner to keep your device scratch free, so it certainly has the ability to replace a piece of foam that would normally have been in its place. When I took the Portable monitor out of the bag i was pleasantly surprised with its appearance, they game it a very modern and sleek feel by not having any plastic on it, they whole thing is wrapped in an aluminum casing as well as the bezel in the front, making its desk appearance to a 10 out of 10.

Time to hook it up, in the box you will see they have supplied you with three cables, one mini HDMI and two USB-C cables. Now I plugged the portable monitor into my doc using one of the provided cords and I got nothing. I was wondering if it needed an alternate power source even though it stated it pulled power from the device it’s connected to, before i tried anything else I thought maybe it was the cable, now the two USB-C cables they supply you are different you will so that one has a metal band at the bottom of the cable ends and the other is just black plastic. Well I plugged the cable in with the metal ends and the screen lit up, causing me to believe it was the cable that couldn’t handle the data transfer. And had I paid better attention the cable has a white tag on it that says its for power only.

Now that I got the screen on, I was very unimpressed with the display. They have this amazing matt screen for glare protection but the image is very dull. I started going through the settings and the HDR was set to off, so go ahead and change that right away, they have a few settings for the HDR, off, Auto, and 2084. Now that my settings are correct, I have to say that the picture is much better than I was expecting. Very bold colors paired with 144hz makes it a great screen for watching shows doing multiple tasks at once or even using it as a gaming monitor.

Now unfortunately the sound quality from the Arzopa portable monitor isn’t much to boast about, although it is sufficient for streaming but i wouldnt recommend it for gaming, you miss out on those acute sounds from a premium speaker or a headset, and unfortunately they didn’t add a headphone jack either. So personally I just used my bluetooth headset, but to be fair that wasn’t a deal breaker for me and most gamers probably would agree that they would prefer their headset anyways.
