AN airline Brits might not have heard of has revealed plans to launch their first ever London flights.
Indian airline IndiGo announced last month that they would launch the first flights from the UK.
The first route will connect Manchester to Mumbai with three flights a week.
And the airline has since announced plans to extend its European reach even further with flights from the UK.
IndiGo’s airline chief Pieter Elbers said they want to add another 10 new destinations, including London.
He didn’t confirm where in India the new route would operate to, but is likely to launch from a London airport by March 2026.
Other new route include flights from Copenhagen and Athens.
The current Manchester to Mumbai route is using leased Norse Atlantic aircraft.
The first flight is set to take off on July 1, and will be the only route connecting Manchester to India.
The London flights will also be using wet-leased 787s.
And it comes after IndiGo confirmed they would be joining with Virgin Atlantic along with KLM and Air France.
Pieter Elbers said: “IndiGo has embarked on an ambitious journey to become a global airline by 2030.
“This announcement not only expands our relationship with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic but also marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as we welcome Delta Airlines as a valued partner.”
Virgin CEO Shai Weiss added : “In our 25th year of flying to India, we’re delighted to build on our Joint Venture with Delta and Air France-KLM, and our successful codeshare with IndiGo, by going further with this partnership.”
Along with Manchester, IndiGo confirmed flights from Amsterdam to Mumbai would also be launched from July 1.
The airline currently operates more than 2,300 flights a day, with more than 400 aircraft.
The new routes will take on British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Air India would currently operate a number of flights from the UK.
This includes direct routes to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Goa.
Air India recently revealed plans to increase flights between the UK and India.
