Nature Collective is hosting three free nature events in June, including a Discovery Tour on June 7, a Volunteer Habitat Restoration Event on June 11 and a Wildlife Tour on June 14.

Nature Collective is a local conservation and science education nonprofit organization. They work to restore habitats, provide healthier waters, and increase wildlife diversity. They are dedicated to conserving the land and providing experiences for people to fall in love with nature.

    Saturday, June 7 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Discover the beauty of San Elijo Lagoon: where fresh water and saltwater meet and mix, migratory and resident birds share a sanctuary, and many animals find a home. This guided tour will inspire all to watch and listen for various birds that rest in – and fly across – the salt marsh and mudflats. No matter the season, you can enjoy, photograph, and identify a host of native plants. Our Nature Center Loop Trail is accessible, providing fun for all.

The San Elijo Lagoon needs your help to restore precious habitats within the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and the surrounding areas. By removing invasive plants and helping grow native plants indigenous to the area, you will support a more balanced ecosystem.

Wildlife Tour: Ages 15+; Registration RequiredSan Elijo Lagoon (meet-up location will be emailed to registered participants)

    RSVP:  naturecollective.org/event/wildlife-tour-june-14-2025/

Don’t miss this upcoming tour. Witness the long-awaited aquatic dredge in action as 70,000 cubic yards of sand are removed from San Elijo Lagoon, restoring the tidal exchange in this unique wetland. Explore the salt marsh and see firsthand how it has adapted to the lack of tidal circulation. This is an incredible opportunity to learn about and experience why this habitat is so critical to many species, while also discovering nature’s resilience. The tour is weather permitting. Guests are reminded that wildlife is unpredictable; there is no guarantee of what you will see.
