Texas A&M athletic director Trev Alberts confirmed what will become of head baseball coach Michael Earley on Friday.
Though the Aggies massively underwhelmed in their first season under Earley, Alberts confirmed he has given the head coach his full support. Texas A&M, the preseason No. 1 team in America after losing head coach Jim Schlossnagle, went 30-26 overall and finished 11-19 in the SEC while missing the NCAA Tournament entirely.
Despite those numbers, Earley will get a chance to turn things around with Alberts expressing confidence in the coach’s ability to execute his “holistic view” of the changes needed:
Earlier today I met with Coach Earley to discuss the state of our baseball program. I appreciate Mike’s work in taking a holistic view of what changes need to be made so that we have a baseball program that meets our high standards. Baseball success is critically important to Texas A&M. I am confident in Mike’s ability to execute the needed change and fully support his vision going forward.

— Texas A&M Athletics (@12thMan) May 30, 2025It adds another interesting chapter to what has been a wild calendar year for Texas A&M. After rolling all the way to the College World Series Finals last season, the Aggies lost Schlossnagle to rival Texas immediately after.
Initially, Earley was reported to be following Schlossnagle to Austin after serving as the hitting coach for A&M. He was then hired to lead the Aggies and returned to College Station.
It must be stated that Earley has continually received the support of his players, with star slugger Jace LaViolette saying the team would “run through a brick wall” for their head coach at the SEC Tournament. LaViolette more or less put his money where his mouth is, playing through a broken hand before A&M would be eliminated.
Now, Earley will get another chance to leave his mark on the program.
