Piatti’s first Orange County location opens in Laguna Beach

Italian eatery noted for its housemade pastas, Piatti opened its first Orange County space in Laguna Beach on Friday, May 30.

Claudio Dell’Anno will take the lead as executive chef at its Laguna Beach location. Born and raised in Belgium, Dell’Anno, who founded Michelin-starred Italian restaurant Ciccio, gained attention after winning Belgium’s television competition “Mijn Restaurant” (“My Restaurant”) in 2010. In 2015, he relocated to California to work as sous chef at Bestia in Los Angeles, later helping lead the kitchens at Trestle and Papilles. He most recently worked as chef de cuisine at Montage Laguna Beach.

    Piatti’s Laguna Beach locale will offer lunch and dinner menus. Menu highlights include oysters, wild sea bass crudo, roasted octopus, fritto misto (calamari), pizzas (margherita, funghi, bianca and spicy pepperoni); pastas (cacio e pepe, pappardelle pesto, seafood linguini, spaghetti pomodoro, rigatoni bolognese, and spinach and ricotta agnolotti) and sandwiches (mortadella, fried chicken, chopped ribeye and more).

    Featured entrees include eggplant parmesan, ricotta lasagna, chicken marsala and salmon with lemon risotto, shrimp scampi, cioppino, bone-in pork Milanese, smoked short rib with mascarpone polenta and Florentine steak for two, to name a few.

    Parched guests can also enjoy an expansive wine list with domestic and Italian labels, amaro cocktails, mocktails, beers and more.

    Piatti opens at the site of the former Cabana Restaurant & Beach Club restaurant.

    Owned by Palisades Hospitality Group, Piatti (plural for “plates”) opened its first location in 1987 in Yountville, later expanding to Danville, Mill Valley, Sacramento, Seattle, and two in San Antonio, Texas.
