In a memorable moment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met 14-year-old cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family at Patna airport during his two-day visit to Bihar. Prime Minister Modi took time to praise Vaibhav for his impressive performances for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2025 season.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi emerged as one of the promising young talents in the IPL 2025 season. The left-handed batter scored 252 runs in seven innings with an average of 36 and a strike rate of 206.55, including a century and a half-century. Notably, he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore.
After the Royals missed the playoffs, Vaibhav returned home. Prime Minister Narendra Modi later shared photos from their meeting on social media, praising Vaibhav’s talent and wishing him success in his future career.
“At Patna airport, met the young cricketing sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family. His cricketing skills are being admired all over the nation! My best wishes to him for his future endeavours,” PM Modi wrote.

An injury to Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson opened the door for the 14-year-old to make his debut. Vaibhav smashed a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans—the fastest IPL century ever by an Indian player. He also scored a half-century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final game.
I Have Seen Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Spectacular IPL Performance - PM Modi
Earlier this month, Narendra Modi praised Suryavanshi. PM Modi called Vaibhav a "son of Bihar" and noted that his rise didn’t happen overnight. Modi stated that the batter earned recognition by consistently playing across various levels of the game.
"I have seen in the IPL, the son of Bihar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's spectacular performance. At such a young age, Vaibhav has set such a great record. There is a lot of hard work behind Vaibhav's performance," Modi had said at the inaugural ceremony of the 7th Khelo India Youth Games via videoconferencing.
“To bring his talent to the forefront, he has played many matches at different levels. The more you play, the more you will shine. Competing in matches and competitions as much as possible is very important. The NDA government has always given it the highest priority in its policies,” he added.
What Lies Ahead for IPL Sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi?
Suryavanshi has been rewarded after his impressive IPL 2025 season. The 14-year-old left-handed batter has been selected for India’s Under-19 squad, which will tour England next month.
India will play a 50-over warm-up match, a five-match Youth One-Day series, and two multi-day games against England’s Under-19 team. This will be Vaibhav’s first experience playing in the challenging conditions of English cricket.
Vaibhav has played only five First-class and six List-A matches so far. Following his strong performances in the IPL, he will aim to carry his form and confidence into his next assignment.
