Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers came out all guns blazing in the all-important Qualifier 1 game against the Punjab Kings. They looked dominant right from the start and bundled PBKS out for 101 in 14.1 overs.
This was one of the most dominant performances with the ball in the history of the Indian Premier League playoffs. RCB bowlers did a great job, and then it was up to the batters to chase down the target quickly and get the job done to seal a spot in the playoffs.
Openers Virat Kohli and Phil Salt started off quite well during the run-chase and put pressure on Punjab Kings by scoring quick runs. However, the chase master Kohli was unable to stay in the middle till the end and got out in the 4th over.
On the second ball of the 4th over, Kyle Jamieson bowled a 131 kmph outside off-stump delivery to Kohli that had extra bounce, and the RCB batter only managed to edge it into the hands of Josh Inglis.
Virat Kohli walked back to the hut in disappointment, and after reaching the dressing room, he vented out his frustration. Kohli was seen smashing a water bottle in frustration and was having an intense chat with someone.

Yes, it is nice to get to this stage of the competition - Phil Salt
Speaking ahead of the match to broadcasters, Virat Kohli's opening partner Phil Salt said that the way they won the previous match against Lucknow Super Giants was amazing. He said:
"Yeah, it was a run chase for the ages. Obviously, a very good wicket there in Lucknow. The way the middle order came and batted, finishing the job that was set up by us, is almost what you dream of chasing a big score like that."
"I think we have no choice but to do that, with the way the schedule and cards have fallen for us. That is exactly what it is. There is no time to think about anything else apart from finishing the game, recovering, getting on another plane and being ready to go again."
Phil Salt further expressed delight over the position that RCB are at in IPL 2025 and labelled Josh Hazlewood's return as a big boost. He said:
"Yes, it is nice to get to this stage of the competition, regardless of which team you are playing for. As a player, it is where you want to be. Big games, big moments. You want to put a stamp on those. As a player, it is unbelievably exciting."
"Yeah, it has (On Hazlewood's availability, lifting the confidence). Good to have him back again. Hopefully, he doesn't miss his mark tonight and picks up from where he left off."
