Luke Littler was coy when discussing his chances of becoming the youngest athlete to receive a knighthood.
‘The Nuke’ has established himself as one of Britain’s biggest sports star after he shot to stardom with his run to the PDC World Championship final in 2024 as a 16-year-old.
Littler’s stock has continued to rise since then, going from strength to strength by winning the Premier League in his debut season last year to cement himself as a household name.
He went on to secure Alexandra Palace glory at the second time of asking in January, making him the youngest darts world champion.
And while the 18-year-old may already have made plenty of his history in his burgeoning career, he was unsure if these achievements were deserving of breaking another record just yet.
Speaking to talkSPORT ahead of tonight’s Premier League Darts Finals Night, Littler was asked if he felt he could overtake Andy Murray as the youngest man to receive a knighthood.
The British tennis great was given the honour in the Queen’s New Year Honours List in 2017, aged 29.
While it isn’t quite confirmed if Murray holds this record outright, he is widely believed to be the youngest in modern times.
With time on his side, it was put to Littler if he could surpass the three-time Grand Slam champion by earning a knighthood at some point over the next 11 years.
Laughing, he replied: “Maybe, maybe not. I’ve just got to keep on going and play my darts.”
Littler can boost his chances of some royal recognition by successfully defending his Premier League title at the 02 Arena tonight.
The teenage sensation made history when he cruised to glory with a stunning 11-7 win over Luke Humphries in last year’s final.

And Littler could write his name into the record books once again with victory in tonight’s showpiece, which would make him just the third player to win consecutive titles, after Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor.
On the possibility of joining the exclusive club, he said: “It would mean the absolute world to go back-to-back.
“Only Phil Taylor and Michael Van Gerwen have gone back to back in this tournament.
“But I’m just ready to walk out into a packed out O2 once again.”
Having topped the Premier League table with a record 45 points at the end of the regular season, Littler faces tough competition on Finals Night to defend his title.

Not only are recent results on his side, but Littler also boasts impressive averages this season, with his overall Premier League average in 2025 standing at 105.
Looking ahead to his encounter with Price, the Warrington native admitted he hoped to keep up his fine recent form to set-up a final with either Luke Humphries or Nathan Aspinall.
He said: “The high averages, I just need to put in one of those performances again. Obviously I’ve beaten him the past two times we’ve met with 102, 104 average.
“But obviously, [it’s] first to ten [the format]. There’s going to be two breaks in between, so I just say to myself: ‘First to five, you have a break [and then] first to five again, you have a break’.”
“And then whatever the score is, you’re on until the end.”
