Kevin Costner’s Horizon sequel is making headlines for recent allegations — but the film’s lack of release date has been raising eyebrows for months.
Coster’s plans for a four-part western epic kicked off with the release of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 in June 2024. The second movie was initially set to hit theaters in August 2024, but it’s been widely reported that New Line Cinema pulled the film after the first Horizon failed to perform at the box office.
Aside from two screenings at the Venice International Film Festival in September 2024 and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival this past February, no details on the film’s release have been announced just yet.
Isabelle Fuhrman, who stars as Diamond Kittredge in the film franchise, stated that the second film would be “coming pretty soon” during a January interview with Screen Rant.

“I think they’re kind of massaging what’s going on with it, but I actually, as of now, haven’t heard anything,” the actress said. “Actors are usually the last to know in these sorts of things. But I was really fortunate that we got to premiere it at Venice and got to see it with an audience. And that was the first time I had seen the movie, and it was great.”
Months later, Fuhrman had changed her tune.
“I really hope that we get to see the second one,” the actress said in May during a separate Screen Rant interview. “I have no clue what Kevin’s planning, but he’s probably planning something.”

Court documents obtained by Us Weekly revealed that Devyn LaBella alleged sexual discrimination, harassment and “the creation of a hostile work environment” on the film’s set. She further claimed that she was “the victim of a violent unscripted, unscheduled rape scene directed by Kevin Costner,” which was filmed in May 2023.
A lawyer for Coster denied the claims in a statement to Us.

“Kevin Costner always wants to make sure that everyone is comfortable working on his films and takes safety on set very seriously,” attorney Marty Singer shared. “However, this claim by Devyn LaBella has absolutely no merit, and it is completely contradicted by her own actions — and the facts.”
Despite all controversy surrounding the movie, Costner is still holding out hope to finish the film franchise.
“I don’t know how I’m going to make [Chapter 3] right now. But I’m going to make it,” Costner said at the Venice Film Festival late last year. “I have to hurry and not let the rock fall back downhill. I’ve gotta go put my hands on it again and start to push it up. It’s a rope that I cannot let go of.”
