Ben Cutting exposes RCB fanbase Hoax yet again

Ben Cutting recalled the memorable night when he helped Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 8 runs in the IPL 2026 final on May 29, 2016, to lift their maiden and only trophy to date at the packed M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

It was the kind of night cricketers dream of, and Ben Cutting lived it to perfection. Nearly a decade ago, Cutting delivered a once-in-a-lifetime performance that powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to their maiden IPL title under the lights of a roaring Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Walking in when the pressure was mounting, Cutting unleashed havoc with a blistering 39 off just 15 balls and then returned to dismantle RCB with two crucial wickets. The crowd went into silent mode as the Australian all-rounder was etching his name in IPL history.

Nearly a decade has passed, but the memory of RCB’s heartbreak is still fresh among the fans and Cutting. Recently, recalling how he silenced the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Aussie revealed that every day, his inbox is flooded with messages from fans requesting his return to the IPL, especially when their team is set to face RCB.

Ben Cutting was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo, “If I load up my private messages on Instagram now, there'll be 150 every day saying, 'Can you make yourself available for the IPL as a replacement player?' for any team that's coming up against RCB.”

Ben Cutting ranks 2016 IPL Final higher than everything else

He said that the time has flown, but that performance and night will remain the highlight of his career. While his dream of playing Test cricket for Australia didn’t materialize, Cutting admitted that nothing else in his career comes close to the high of that IPL night.

Cutting added, “What was achieved that night… It's essentially one of the biggest sporting events in the world. To play for Australia was always a lifetime goal of mine, and I'm still disappointed I didn't get to play Test cricket. But that IPL final, for me, still ranks higher than everything else.”

The all-rounder revealed that he still proudly keeps his Player of the Match trophy at home in Queensland, but one special keepsake from that 2016 IPL final didn’t make it back with him.

Ben Cutting reveals frustrating memory of 2016 IPL Final

Right after the win, Cutting grabbed a stump as a souvenir and tucked it into his kitbag before rushing back to celebrate SRH’s iconic title triumph under David Warner’s captaincy.

But when Cutting returned, the stump was not there; possibly the IPL officials took it after searching through his bag. He said that was a frustrating memory from that unforgettable night.

The Aussie signed off by saying, “I grabbed a stump, pulled it out of the ground, ran straight off the field, and put it in my kitbag. Then I was straight back out there celebrating… When I got back to my bag, the IPL staff had gone through it and rifled it!”
