Oklahoma City Thunder star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander can now add NBA MVP to his growing list of accolades. The three-time NBA All-Star is one of the league’s most popular young players and the seeming heir apparent to veteran stars like Steph Curry, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, and James Harden. However, the Canadian native—who spent one year at the University of Kentucky—is most proud of his young family.
Not only did the 26-year-old win the 2024-25 NBA MVP Award, beating out three-time winner Nikola Jokić, but the husband and father also gets to celebrate his success with his family by his side—and often on the sidelines.

In February 2024, Gilgeous-Alexander, known as SGA, married his longtime girlfriend Hailey Summers. The couple welcomed their first child together, a son named Ares, in May of the same year. The adorable toddler quickly became a fixture on the Thunder sidelines, even rooting his dad on during a recent playoff game.

Despite winning the coveted MVP title, SGA makes one thing clear: family comes first. In a recent interview with Motorcycle Sports, the NBA star said, "It's a different type of love. It's surreal. It's hard to wrap your head around. But it's for sure the best thing in the world, hands down.”
