7 Best All-Inclusive Resorts in the Bahamas, According to a Travel Expert

Boasting more than 700 islands and cays, the Bahamas has long been a favorite escape for honeymooners, families and sun-seekers drawn to its sugar-soft sands and sparkling turquoise waters. And when you’re ready for total relaxation without the hassle of credit card fees, currency exchanges or carrying your wallet, an all-inclusive resort is the answer. With meals, drinks and activities bundled into the total cost, you skip the stressful logistics and dive straight into worry-free indulgence.

With more than 20 all-inclusive stays under my belt (and three more planned this year alone) in 9 countries, I’ve become a bit of an expert on round-the-clock resort living, from sunrise mimosas and Instagram-worthy breakfast spreads to poolside cocktails that aren’t watered down and dinners that justify the expensive new dresses I bought for the trip. As a travel writer who’s explored over 70 countries, written for major publications and magazines, and been featured on travel shows, I’ve learned exactly what sets a great resort apart, and what makes it worth booking to begin with.

These are the seven best all-inclusive resorts in the Bahamas, ranging from sprawling five-star resorts on private beaches to more budget-friendly options that still offer all the amenities.

    Sandals Royal Bahamian, Nassau

    Sandals

Best for: Couples and romantic getaways

This adults-only resort is the definition of luxury-meets-laid-back. With two massive pools, ten restaurants, and a private offshore island reserved just for guests, Sandals Royal Bahamian is the ultimate honeymoon escape. A recent 55 million dollar renovation has added modern beach-chic suites and butler service that handles everything for you (including expedited room service, shoe shines and luggage unpacking).

Just a short boat ride away sits Barefoot Cay, the island’s private island that touts a spa, a Zen garden, and two beaches. If water adventures are more your thing, there are paddleboards, kayaks and snorkel gear available to rent, as well as scuba diving excursions that take you to the breathtaking Andros barrier reef.

Best for: Families and multi-generational travel

While the entirety of Atlantis isn’t a traditional all-inclusive, it does offer all-inclusive packages and meal plans to take the stress out of your stay. Enjoy the recently renovated The Royal for updated rooms, iconic waterslides, the Royal Baths, and the Dig aquarium, which is home to over 250 species of fish, manta rays and more. For more of a splurge, stay at The Cove, which is flanked by two beaches and offers a more elevated experience, complete with private cabana rentals, an exclusive lounge and even butler service.

Either way, access to the massive Aquaventure water park and over 20 dining venues is included. The 141-acre water park is a family favorite, along with the seriously impressive marine exhibits, which house over 50,000 rare and endangered species. The 24/7 casino, picturesque golf course and on-site spa add to the allure for the grown-ups.

    Best for: Affordable island escapes

One of the few all-inclusive resorts on Grand Bahama Island, Lighthouse Point is true understated luxury at a fantastic value. Set on a pristine stretch of beach, the resort offers unlimited dining, drinks and non-motorized water sports, like windsurfing and snorkeling. Although it’s an added fee, the beachside horseback riding is about as romantic as it gets, and truly gives you an entirely different perspective on the surrounding nature.

Room-wise, you can choose from marina, garden, or ocean views, and each boasts traditional Bahamian decor. For dining, you're spoiled for choice between 6 restaurants and bars. The true highlight is the golf, which is also included with your package. The Reef Course is scattered with palm trees and ocean breezes, and was named one of the top 100 golf courses in the world.

Small Hope Bay Lodge, Andros Island

Best for: Nature lovers and off-the-grid travelers

Don’t let the label eco-lodge scare you away, Small Hope Bay is anything but basic. Family-run since the 1960s, this boutique all-inclusive offers a rare blend of rustic charm and barefoot luxury, with just 21 beachfront cabins. Due to the size, the stay feels incredibly authentic, with fresh, locally sourced meals, open bars without a line, guided snorkeling and diving and no crowds in sight.

Get an up-close view of the astonishing Andros Island reef system with scuba diving and snorkeling just steps from the lodge. Even though it’s not for everyone, many past guests rave about the community-style dining and how you can truly soak up the digital detox experience, thanks to the lack of TVs and phones.

Club Med Columbus, San Salvador Island

Best for: Adventure and active travelers

If you’d prefer an adults-only vibe, Club Med Columbus is one of our favorites in the Caribbean. Located on a remote island known for its untouched beauty, this resort focuses heavily on wellness, fitness and water sports, so it’s the ultimate oasis for travelers who want to stay active by day and unwind by night with all-inclusive cocktails and international cuisine.

Adventurers will flock to the included windsurfing, sailing, yoga and fitness classes, while honeymooners will enjoy the stunning, uncrowded beaches. The resort, which underwent an expansive (and expensive) renovation in 2022, flaunts brightly colored buildings and private bungalows that offer full porches overlooking the beach and modern, comfortable furnishings inside.

Best for: Budget-conscious travelers and families

One of just two all-inclusives on the island, Viva Fortuna Beach is a solid pick for families or groups with a tighter budget. This all-inclusive resort includes meals, drinks, daily activities, and even trapeze lessons for less than $150 a day per person. Nature lovers flock here because of the location to the island’s famed 40-acre Lucayan National Park, home to one of the world’s largest underwater cave systems.

Unlike other resorts, literally everything is included here, from sailing lessons to tennis to archery, windsurfing and paddleboarding. The rooms are simple but comfortable and offer 24/7 all-inclusive room service for those late-night munchies after watching a show.

    Kamalame Cay, Andros Island

Best for: Secluded luxury and intimate escapes

While not a traditional all-inclusive like the others on the list, Kamalame Cay offers full-board packages that include gourmet meals and personalized service on a private island. This barefoot-luxe hideaway is perfect for honeymooners or anyone seeking peace, privacy and high-end indulgence. The resort also boasts the Bahamas' only overwater spa, which offers everything from post-sun treatments to deep-tissue massages and ocean crystal facials. If you’d prefer to be in the water, try out the resort-led scuba dives or fishing and ocean expeditions. If romance is more your vibe, enjoy a sunset beach picnic on the Cay.
