Celebrities and other high-profile figures are sharing their well-wishes for former President Joe Biden.
Biden’s office announced on Sunday, May 18, that the former U.S. president has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” said a statement. “On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”
The statement added, “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management.”

Joe, 82, and his family, including wife Dr. Jill Biden, are currently “reviewing treatment options with his physicians,” the statement concluded.

President Donald Trump
“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery,” Trump wrote via his Truth Social account.
Barack Obama
In a post shared via X on Sunday, Obama wrote, “Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family. Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace. We pray for a fast and full recovery.”
Kamala Harris
The former vice president sent well-wishes on behalf of herself and her husband, Doug Emhoff, via X.
“Doug and I are saddened to learn of President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. We are keeping him, Dr. Biden, and their entire family in our hearts and prayers during this time,” Harris wrote. “Joe is a fighter — and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership. We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery.”

Meghan McCain
The daughter of Joe’s longtime friend, the late John McCain, shared via X: “Cancer is the absolute worst. It is hell. It is incredibly difficult for any family, anywhere that has to deal with it. Wishing nothing but healing, prayers, light and strength to President Biden and his family.”
She concluded, “I don’t believe times like these are appropriate for politics.”
Meghan and Joe made headlines in 2017 when he comforted her on the set of The View after she broke down in tears over her father’s cancer battle. (McCain died in August 2018.)
Al Roker
The Today weather anchor, who previously battled prostate cancer, showed his support for Joe via Instagram.
“Sending out prayers and a good outcome for President @joebiden after hearing about his #prostatecancer diagnosis. Having gone through it myself, I have an understanding of what he and his family are going through,” Roker, 70, wrote alongside photos of him and the Bidens during a visit to the Today show.

Joe’s former White House press secretary shared a photo of her and her former boss via Instagram and wrote, “Joe Biden is a fighter. Has been his whole life. Thinking of the President and Dr Biden. Boss, you’ve got this.”
