Legendary Actor, 74, Throws Glass of Water at Stunned Cannes Crowd

Actor Bill Murray, 74, made quite a commotion at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

The Daily Mail reported that Murray didn't just pose while on the red carpet on May 19. While doing the photocall for the Wes Anderson film, The Phoenician Scheme, wherein he plays God, Murray decided to get the crowd a little wet. According to the publication, Murray obtained a glass of water and launched the liquid toward the crowd, which included plenty of photographers. Murray, who was wearing an embroidered jacket, shorts, and tennis shoes, looked pleased during the stunt.

Murray often collaborates with Anderson. For instance, for nearly three decades, Murray has starred in several Anderson projects, including Rushmore, Moonrise Kingdom, and The French Dispatch, per IMDb.

Murray opened up about his long-standing professional relationship with the Oscar-nominated director in an April 2018 interview on The TODAY Show. He joked that Anderson will reach out to him about starring in a film without giving him any details.

"By this time, he just sends a message, 'Will you be available the first week of February?' That's all. It's like Mission Impossible. 'If you choose to accept,'" quipped Murray.

Murray said that he will never hesitate when accepting a role from Anderson.

"It's an automatic yes. He's made making movies his life. And making movies is a joy," said Murray during the interview.

However, during a 2018 panel, alongside Anderson, Murray said there's one movie he wouldn't sign onto if the director approached him with it. However, Murray stayed coy with details about the specific project.

"There is one. But if you say what it is, then you get in trouble," said Murray during the panel.

He then told the audience that he thoroughly enjoys working with Anderson.

"We have a lot of fun working together," said Murray.

Anderson seemed to appreciate Murray's comments and responded by smiling.
