Dry and warmer conditions were expected throughout the county through Friday, then cooler and windy weather accompanied by possible light showers over the weekend, forecasters said on Thursday.
Highs in San Diego are expected to be in the mid-to-high 60s through the weekend, with lows in the mid-50s.
Stronger and gusty west winds are expected in the mountains and deserts through Saturday afternoon into Sunday. The strongest winds are expected on Saturday afternoon and evening, with gusts from 40 to 50 mph.
There could be some light rain on Friday night, the National Weather Service said.
“The most likely time for precipitation is on Saturday night with the most likely location for San Diego County from the coast to the mountains,” NWS San Diego said in a discussion.
“Most amounts are expected to be light with chances for one-tenth inch or more of rainfall ranging from around 5 percent near the coast to 10 to 15 percent on the coastal slopes of the mountains.”
Marine forecasters said stronger winds and higher seas are expected late Saturday into Sunday, possibly leading to hazardous boating conditions in the outer coastal waters. Winds and waves should gradually subside later Sunday into Monday.
No hazardous marine conditions are expected Thursday through Saturday.
“Dry weather will follow for next week. Warming will begin on Monday and continue on Tuesday and Wednesday with high temperatures as much as 5 to 10 degrees above average on Wednesday for the coast and valleys,” the NWS said.
Friday’s San Diego surf forecast includes a low-risk rip current, with surf from 2 to 3 feet, sets to 4 feet and mixed swell from 270 and 220 degrees.
