The Tennessee-Vanderbilt rivalry appears to be as bitter as ever.
On Sunday, the Commodores defeated the Volunteers 7-5 in Knoxville to take 2-of-3 in the series. After the game, the two coaching staffs had to separate players from both teams as there were some spirited exchanges.

Tony Vitello and Tim Corbin, meanwhile, had a routine postgame handshake.

UT answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th. The Commodores added an insurance run in the top of the 9th, holding for the 7-5 victory.
For Tennessee, the Vols’ miserable 2nd half continues. UT has now dropped 5 of its last 6 SEC series, including 4 straight at home. Tennessee is 39-13 overall and 15-12 in SEC play.
It’s a significant bounce-back for Vanderbilt after dropping back-to-back series to Ole Miss and Alabama.
