WALMART has opened a new futuristic store – and one of the features inside has been rolled out at a popular wholesale club.
Displays inside the refurbished outlet have been revamped and customers will be able to take advantage of a range of services.
One such feature Walmart shoppers will notice is QR codes on displays.
Chiefs have claimed the barcodes will “unlock “ digital tools.
And, Walmart is not the only retailer that has turned to including QR codes in its stores.
QR codes can also be found on displays inside a Sam’s Club location in Texas.
Shoppers can use their cell phone to scan the QR code and this brings up information about a product.
Walmart has opened its first store of the future in Cypress and bosses have unveiled plans to renovate more than 650.
Execs have said the store of the future concept is designed to make shopping easier for customers.
“Walmart is blending the best of physical and digital to create a seamless omni journey — making shopping easy, fast and convenient,” the company said.
The Cypress location also contains a modernized pharmacy that has a drive-thru.
Inside the store there are different food sections.
The location has a Hispanic bakery department, and customers can get fresh tortillas and sushi made.
Those with a sweet tooth can also take advantage of the Dunkin’ section.
Outside the store, there is a fuel station containing eight pumps.
Up to 16 cars will be able to use the gas station at one time.

Walmart is not the only retailer in the process of remodeling outlets.
Sam’s Club warehouses are being restyled in the model of its futuristic Texas location.
The warehouse reopened last year after being converted.
As part of the conversion, traditional checkout stations were stripped out.
Shoppers are encouraged to use the retailer’s scan and go service.
This tool can be accessed on the Sam’s Club app.
It means shoppers do not have to stand in potentially long lines waiting for a checkout station to come free.
Hundreds of Sam’s Club warehouses are being revamped, but some members have threatened to boycott the retailer if scan and go becomes the only payment method.
