Florida has work to do in getting back to .500 in the incredibly competitive SEC, and the Gators stayed on track toward that goal this weekend at South Carolina.
The Gators piled up a whopping 22 runs in a 22-3 rout of the Gamecocks in the first of 2 games on Sunday in Columbia. That gave UF the series victory, which was its 4th straight series win, to improve the Gators to 32-16 overall and 10-13 in the SEC.
Florida and South Carolina were set to play Game 3 of the weekend series about 50 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2, which the Gators put away in relentless fashion with 5 runs in the 8th and 11 more in the 9th. UF scored those 22 runs on just 15 hits, and South Carolina (26-22, 5-18) helped as well by committing 2 errors.
With the series win secured after the 22-run explosion to go with a 9-5 victory in Game 1 of the series, Florida was looking to go the extra mile and get the weekend sweep later on Sunday.

Florida won series against Arkansas, Mississippi State and Missouri before it got down to business in Columbia this weekend with its 4th straight series win.
