Mariah Carey is officially recording a new album — and she's working on it with her rumored boyfriend, Anderson .Paak.
"We're working on some music. On her new album," .Paak said during an appearance on TrackStar*. The rapper/producer, 39, was wearing a T-shirt with Carey's face on it at the time of the appearance and admitted to having a crush on her many years ago.
Carey hasn't released any new music since 2018 — but it sounds like she's been inspired lately.
"This would be Mariah Carey. The Mariah Carey," he said referencing his shirt. "I remember like, fifth grade or something, just watching the music video and having a huge crush."

Meanwhile, Carey, 55, has also talked about recording her 16th studio album in recent months.
"I have a lot I want to do. I’m busy," Carey told Best magazine earlier this year, according to Retropop. "I’m writing new material, so there is new music and a new album coming some time in the future. I’m not sure when. I’m just enjoying the songwriting process," she added.
Just last month, Carey told the Associated Press that she's been in the studio.
"I’m not supposed to talk about it. … But I’m working on something. We won’t say what it is, but something new," she told the news agency when asked if she was going to come out with new music anytime soon.
As for Carey and .Paak, the two haven't made their rumored relationship official, but have been romantically linked since they were spotted holding hands in December.
