Ryan Reynolds served as wife Blake Lively’s hype man at the Time 100 Gala.

After the couple posed for red carpet pics at the New York City event on Thursday, April 24, Reynolds, 48, was seen giving Lively, 37, what looked like a pep talk before she took to the stage for her speech.

In a clip of the interaction shared by Page Six, Reynolds nodded his head while chatting with his wife. Before he returned to his seat, Lively held his face as the two shared a sweet kiss. The pair looked loved-up on the red carpet earlier in the evening, with Lively placing her hand on Reynolds’ chest and him wrapping his arm around her waist.

“You look good,” Us Weekly heard Reynolds tell the Another Simple Favor star on the red carpet, to which she responded, “Thank you.” After a photographer referred to Lively as “Ms. Reynolds,” the Deadpool & Wolverine actor joked that he loved the nickname.

“Honestly, I prefer that,” Reynolds quipped before joking to the paparazzi, “You’ll get singles, too. Don’t worry, she’ll leave.” He also hilariously dubbed himself as Lively’s “human crutches” as she struggled to walk in her high heels.

Us also saw the couple praise photographers for acting “very civil” on the red carpet, with one thanking Lively and Reynolds as they moved to their next spot. Reynolds later apologized for stepping away so that Lively could take photos with her mother, Elaine, sarcastically stating, “I’m so sorry, guys.”

Lively was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025 earlier this month for her notable acting career and philanthropy work. “Thank you @time And thank you @sherrilynifill for one of the most surreal and meaningful moments of my life in this honor,” she wrote in reaction to the recognition via Instagram on April 16. “My 10-year-old self is pretty blown away right now.”

The honor comes amid Lively’s ongoing legal battle with her It Ends With Us director and costar Justin Baldoni. She alluded to their conflict during her speech at Thursday’s Time 100 Gala. “I have so much to say about the last two years of my life, but tonight is not the forum,” she told attendees before stating that she would instead speak about “the feeling of being a woman who has a voice today.”

Months after reports that Lively and Baldoni, 41, faced creative conflict on the set of the August 2024 film, Lively filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024. Among her many claims, Lively accused Baldoni of inappropriate on-set behavior, adding more intimate scenes between their characters into the film and attempting to launch a smear campaign to ruin her reputation.

Baldoni refuted her claims and threw out allegations of his own in a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times — who first reported on Lively’s case — and a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds and Lively’s publicist, Leslie Sloane. Among his accusations against Lively, he claimed the actress tried to take over creative control of It Ends With Us, isolated him during the film’s promotion with other cast members and attempted to block him from attending the film’s premiere.

Both sides and their legal teams — as well as the NY Times — have repeatedly denied the other’s allegations. A trial date has been set for March 9, 2026.
