SUGAR lovers can get their hands on a sweet deal from Target, as the retailer is selling a viral candy for just $4.99.
The sour candy, created by a popular YouTuber, is nearly double the price at Walmart, costing shoppers $9.68.
Content creators are no strangers to the power of shelf space at major retailers.
From MrBeast’s Feastables chocolate bars to Logan Paul’s Prime sports drinks, social media influencers have demonstrated their ability to transform online followings into profits on supermarket shelves.
Ryan Trahan (@ryan), a popular entrepreneur, vlogger, and YouTuber with nearly 20 million subscribers, is another popular content creator that has worked his way into the retail space.
Trahan co-owns Joyride, a plant-based, low sugar, and non-GMO candy brand, and serves as its chief creative officer.
He partnered with company founder Tyler Merrick in 2023 to develop and launch a line of sour strip candies as part of the broader Joyride brand.
The viral sour strips, with flavors including strawberry, raspberry, and green apple, are sold by a variety of retailers, including Target and Walmart.
Target is offering shoppers 3.5 ounce bags of the Joyride Candy Sour Blue Raspberry Strips for $4.99.
The popular candy has just four grams of sugar, no artificial dyes or colors, and even contains prebiotic fiber for gut health.
Sweet tooths can score the same exact candy from Walmart, but it will cost shoppers a pretty penny more.
The retailer is selling the same bag of sour candies for $14.68, currently marked down to $9.68.
CANDY CRAVINGS
Joyride was created in 2022 by Tyler Merrick, who set out to change the way the world eats candy.
In search of a business partner, Merrick reached out to Trahan in early 2022.
Trahan, a former D1 athlete, was also a candy fanatic who sought to create a healthier version of the sugary treat.
Joyride is based in Austin, Texas, and so was Trahan, so the duo were able to come together in 2023 to “revolutionize the candy experience.”

“I LOVE these!” wrote one Reddit user, as another shared that the candy was “surprisingly good” for being so low in sugar.
“I just tried them for the first time 10 minutes ago. They’re solid. The blue raspberry is quite a bit better than pink lemonade imo, but both good,” said another.
“My son bought some and they were chewier than typical but a good sour!” raved a third.
