DENVER (KDVR) -- One person was sent to the hospital on Thursday morning after several rocks fell onto Interstate 70, causing a crash and several damaged cars.
Just before 7 a.m., the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office said several rocks fell onto I-70, west of Fall River Road, mile marker 236.
The sheriff's office said the falling rocks caused one vehicle to crash and several others with blown tires. Five vehicles were damaged in total. One person is being sent to a local hospital. At this time, it's unclear the extent of the injuries.
There was a standstill on westbound I-70. Here's what the traffic looked like as of 7 a.m.:
I-70 MP 237.25 EB : 0.4 miles W of Fall Rover Rd (CDOT)The sheriff's office said Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash, while the Colorado Department of Transportation cleared the rocks.
The roadway was cleared and the roadway reopened before 7 a.m.
