Rece Davis, the voice and face of ESPN’s College GameDay, football and basketball, is going to be staying at ESPN into a 4th decade.
The 30-year veteran of the network signed a multi-year extension with ESPN that was announced on Wednesday afternoon. The award-winning host had reportedly been recruited by FOX Sports for its popular Big Noon Kickoff show, but he decided to stay at ESPN and has now signed on to extend his already lengthy career as 1 of the icons of ESPN.
According to ESPN, Davis will continue to host the College GameDay football and men’s basketball pregame shows, as well as anchor College Football Playoff studio coverage, the NFL Draft on ABC and ESPN programs at the men’s Final Four. He will also call football and basketball games.
The announcement on Davis’s extension comes at a fitting point in his ESPN career. Davis just celebrated 30 years at ESPN in March, so reaching that remarkable round number at the network has now been followed by Davis signing on for years to come as the guy who welcomes college football and college basketball fanatics to action-packed Saturday mornings during those respective seasons.
Rece is a trusted voice, a true professional and a tremendous teammate whose presence makes us better every day,” said Burke Magnus, ESPN President, Content. “He’s ingrained in the college sports landscape and we’re proud to have him lead our GameDay team for years to come. One of Rece’s many strengths is his versatility, and we look forward to having him contribute to a wide variety of marquee events as part of his new agreement with ESPN.
