Segerstrom’s baseball team has to forfeit all of its wins this season and is ineligible for this year’s playoffs due to rule violations, the CIF Southern Section announced Thursday.
The CIF-SS announcement stated that Segerstrom has been placed on probation, in addition to the other sanctions, for violating the section’s bylaws regarding “Undue Influence,” “Authorized Participation” and “Administrative Oversight.”
Segerstrom was 12-7 overall and in first place in the Golden West League going into Thursday’s game against Kennedy.
Segerstrom coach Erasmo Ramirez declined to comment Thursday. Ramirez, who pitched in Major League Baseball, is in his 15th season coaching the Jaguars.
According to CIF bylaws, “Undue influence is any act, gesture or communication (including accepting material or financial inducement) to attend a CIF member school.”
The CIF-SS press release Thursday stated that CIF ByLaw 500C was violated. That by-law is: “Ineligible students shall not compete as representatives of the school in any competition involving CIF member schools.”
“Administrative Oversight” by-laws include the language: “Schools shall be responsible to confirm the eligibility status for all students participating in interscholastic athletics at their schools as required by the Federated Council, local Section, and leagues.”
Segerstrom can can apply on Feb. 1 2026 for reinstatement for the 2026 season.
