DENVER (KDVR) — Police are hoping the public can help identify a man's remains found earlier this month in north central Aurora.
According to the Aurora Police Department, officers responded on April 1 to a report of a fight between multiple people near Interstate 225 and 6th Avenue. While speaking to people involved in the fight, officers were told about human remains under the overpass that crosses Toll Gate Creek near Potomac Street and Potomac Circle.
Homicide detectives found skeletal remains at the location, and the remains were transported to the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office for an autopsy. The police department said it would not be releasing photos of the remains, but did share a photo of the area near where the remains were located.
The office determined the remains are that of an African American man in his 30s who was about five foot, five inches tall and weighed about 140 pounds. He had short, curly black hair.
The coroner's office said the man was wearing a brown leather, bomber-style jacket; a florescent green hooded sweatshirt; a grey, crop-top hooded sweatshirt with decorative grommets and strings along the sides; black sweatpants, camouflage shorts and light-brown shearling-type boots.

The agency said that so far, investigative efforts show the man might be a member of the transient community called "Ben," who was known to frequent the East Colfax and I-225 corridors.
