The final version of the College Basketball AP Top 25 was released on Tuesday, putting a bow on the 2024-25 season. With Florida rallying past Houston on Monday night, the Gators claim the top spot as the. national champions for the season.
With all 4 1-seeds reaching the Final Four this season, it made the top of the AP Poll particularly easy. Houston, as the national runner-up, grabbed the No. 2 spot while Duke was slotted at No. 3 and Auburn finished at No. 4. The Tigers spent a number of weeks at No. 1 and grabbed the No. 1 overall seed in March Madness but could not complete a win over Florida in the national semifinals.
Tennessee and Alabama followed Auburn, giving the SEC 4 of the top 6 slots in the entire country. The SEC ended the year with 8 total spots in the AP Poll.
Considering the trajectory of the SEC this season, it is only appropriate that the league ends the season with the top spot in the poll. The conference sent 14 teams to the Big Dance and broke records in nearly every round of the tournament, leading up to Florida’s national championship.
Here is the complete final poll as the Gators bask in the glow of an undisputed title:
