Dan Hurley has made headlines throughout the season at various times from lashing out at the media or the fans. After a loss to Creighton, Hurley was seen yelling at fans and pointing to his fingers as an emphasis to the fact that the Huskies had won 2 straight national championships.
After the loss to Florida in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, when he was seen telling the Baylor team ‘I hope they don’t f— you like they f—ed us’.’
As bad as that was, the cherry on the top was when UConn SID threatened a reporter over the report on what Hurley said to Baylor.
During an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Hurley said he regrets what he said after the loss to Florida.
“I deeply regret that, we missed a lot of open shots,” Hurley said. “Credit Florida and (Walter) Clayton, they’re championship level. That one I regret deeply. I didn’t believe it and that was embarrassing.

While talking to Patrick, Hurley said he needs to find someone to walk him off the floor, similar to what they do in college football with coaches.
“Some of the fan interactions, I’ve got to get somebody that I think that maybe can walk me off the court,” Hurley said. “Maybe like college football. It has those guys who walk the coach to the other court, maybe I need to get somebody when the game ends can get me on and off the court. I don’t think my in-game coaching that I am going to change, because we have been really successful.”
The passion and energy of Hurley is something that college basketball fans have been praising him for during the back-to-back national championships. This year, when things were going well, that same passion and energy was used negatively.
As long as Hurley is still at UConn, the Huskies are going to be in the spotlight.
