POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.

SHOTS FIRED: Caller in the 500 block of Capps Lane reported at 5:38 p.m. April 3 hearing shots fired. An officer checked the area and found it quiet upon arrival and departure.

    DEATH: An officer responded to the 1100 block of North Oak Street at 7:16 p.m. April 3 for “suspicious circumstances” and took a report of a death.

    SHOPLIFTER: An officer was flagged down by a citizen reporting a shoplifting had just occurred at Safeway on South State Street at 11:08 p.m. April 3, and the suspect was cited and released for theft.

    TRAFFIC STOP: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 1300 block of North State Street at 11:38 p.m. April 3 and cited and released a Willits man for possession of a controlled substance and driving without a license.

    ASSAULT AT HOSPITAL: Caller at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley reported at 3:10 a.m. April 5 that an assault had occurred. An officer responded and took a report.

    PERSON STOPPING TRAFFIC: Caller in the 600 block of South State Street reported at 3:48 a.m. April 5 that someone in the roadway was stopping traffic. An officer responded and reported the person was “contacted and counseled on their behavior.”

    DISTURBANCE: Caller in the 100 block of Talmage Road reported at 8:59 a.m. April 5 that a man was causing a disturbance. An officer responded and arrested a 63-year-old Willits man for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was booked at Mendocino County Jail.

    AGGRESSIVE DOG: Caller in the 700 block of South State Street reported at 9:31 p.m. April 5 that an aggressive dog was in the area. An officer responded and reported the dog was gone.

    BARKING DOG: Caller in the 300 block of West Church Street reported at 9:37 p.m. April 5 that a dog was barking. An officer responded and reported that the owner was not home.

    The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.

    TRESPASSING: An officer responded to the 1200 block of North Main Street at 1:22 p.m. April 5 for a report of trespassers and cited and released a 51-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman for trespassing and littering.

    LOOSE DOG: Caller at the corner of Florence and Willow streets reported at 7:12 p.m. April 5 that a dog was loose An officer responded and reported that the dog was gone. At 7:34 p.m., the officer reported that a tan dog with a vest was located in the 300 block of Park Street, and was taken to the animal shelter.

    Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper.
