Walter Clayton has been the talk of the NCAA Tournament, as he has been dazzling fans over the past 2 weeks. He has put on some incredible scoring displays, including the 30-point performance that helped Florida come back against Texas Tech in the Elite Eight.
He continued that on Saturday in the first half of the Final Four matchup against Auburn, leading the team with 14 first-half points. With that performance, he shattered the record for most points scored by a Florida player during an NCAA Tournament run.

— Florida Gators Men’s Basketball (@GatorsMBK) April 5, 2025After the first-half performance, he has scored 103 points in this year’s NCAA Tournament. The previous record was by Joakim Noah, who scored 97 points during the Gators’ national title run in 2006. However, Noah had 6 full games to do that, while Clayton was able to break that record in the middle of his 5th game of March Madness.
Clayton has scored at least 13 points in every NCAA Tournament game, including 3 games of at least 23. Coach Todd Golden and the Gators may need a similar second-half run that he produced against the Red Raiders, as the Gators trailed their SEC rival Auburn by 8 points at the half.
