Sanjay Manjrekar drags Ravindra Jadeja in latest post amid CSK’s IPL 2025 struggles

Former Team India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar sparked fan reactions with a cheeky social media post during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The cricketer-turned-commentator shared a picture on his official Instagram handle where he is humorously posing with Ravindra Jadeja's jersey.

Sanjay Manjrekar is currently part of the commentary panel for the IPL 2025 season, while Ravindra Jadeja is playing as a player for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). They have struggled early in the season. The Chennai team secured just one win from three matches and is seventh on the 10-team points table.

Sanjay Manjrekar shared the photo on his official Instagram account, featuring an Indian team jersey with Ravindra Jadeja’s name and number. In the picture, he is seen smiling and pointing at the jersey.

"Sporting No. 8 with a smile ?," he captioned the Instagram post.

Ravindra Jadeja Called a 'Bits and Pieces' Player by Sanjay Manjrekar

In 2019, Sanjay Manjrekar called Ravindra Jadeja a "bits and pieces" player. He argued that Jadeja wasn’t a complete all-rounder in ODIs, stating he was more of a specialist bowler in Tests.

"I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner," he had said (via India Today).

Manjrekar faced heavy criticism for his remarks about Jadeja. Jadeja has been a key player for India, featuring in 80 Tests, 204 ODIs, and 74 T20Is. He has amassed 3,370 Test runs with four centuries and 22 fifties, along with 323 wickets, including 15 five-wicket hauls.

The all-rounder has scored 2,806 runs in ODIs with 13 half-centuries and taken 231 wickets. He has amassed 515 T20I runs and picked up 54 wickets before retiring from the format after India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. Jadeja remains an integral part of India's Test and ODI squads.

Ravindra Jadeja's IPL Career with Chennai Super Kings

Ravindra Jadeja made his IPL debut in 2008 and has been a key all-rounder for Chennai Super Kings over the years. The 36-year-old has played over 240 IPL matches, scoring more than 3,000 runs at an average of around 27. He has also taken over 160 wickets with his left-arm spin.

Jadeja played a crucial role in CSK's IPL 2023 title-winning campaign, hitting the winning runs in the final. In the 2025 season, he has played three matches, scoring 74 runs at an average of 37.00 and a strike rate of 125.42. He has also taken three wickets, with his best bowling figures of 1/24.
