One NBA fan had to be stretchered off the court on Monday night after an apparent disastrous injury during a fan competition. It should be acknowledged that Monday night was April 1, but by all signs, this was indeed a real — and painful — event for the fan.
It occurred during Monday’s action between the Atlanta Hawks and Portland Trail Blazers in Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. The contest was a simple one, in theory.
Two fans were pitted against one another in a layup + tic-tac-toe contest. But on the very first attempt, one fan went down — hard — and remained on the ground while clutching his knee in agony.
The host of the event was clearly startled and left unsure how to respond, though the event was eventually halted to check on one fan. Adding legitimacy to the injury and incident, the fan would require paramedics and a stretcher to leave the court with the game even undergoing a brief delay while the fan was tended to.

Hopefully the fan checks out okay, but adding insult to injury, the Hawks fell 127-113 at home. That’s not quite the evening you are hoping for as a fan.
