Taylor Swift is no stranger to philanthropy—and recently, Ellen Pompeo detailed the pop superstar writing the "biggest check" for a cause near and dear to the Grey's Anatomy star "without blinking an eye."
On the April 2 episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Pompeo spoke about portraying Dr. Meredith Grey on the ABC medical drama for 20 years. She and host Jennifer Hudson also discussed her cameo in Swift's "Bad Blood" music video.

“That got me so much mileage with both of the girls for a stretch," Pompeo said of her two daughters, Stella, 15, Sienna, 10. (She also has a son, Eli, 8.) “And Taylor is such a good girl and I didn’t know her and she invited me to be in the video and I thought, ‘Oh that would be fun.’”
The actress, 55, then recalled asking Swift to donate to a program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
“They have an amazing program at Children’s where they make music for the babies in the NICU and for the parents who have to go to work all day and they can’t be with the kids," she explained. "They record their voices singing nursery rhymes or telling them stories and they play it for the babies in the day when the parents can’t be there."
Additionally, Pompeo noted that the babies "respond to it and it makes their outcomes more positive.”
Because the program needed money, Pompeo worked up the courage to ask Swift for a donation.
"So I just got up the hooks and asked Taylor, ‘Could you write me a big old check for Children’s?’" she recalled. "And she knew me all but 20 minutes and that girl wrote me the biggest check without blinking an eye.”
Of course, Swift named one of her beloved cats after Pompeo's Grey's Anatomy character, meaning the love and admiration is mutual. Plus, the "Shake It Off" singer was known to donate to food pantries at each stop of her wildly popular Eras Tour, among other charitable contributions through the years, so the act of kindness toward Pompeo's charity likely doesn't surprise Swifties in the slightest!
