Toby Kwon and Shane Wendler were dominant on the mound in Servite’s 2-1 win over JSerra in a Trinity League opener Tuesday at JSerra High.
Kwon allowed one run on four hits in five innings of work with six strikeouts to earn the win. Wendler pitched two scoreless innings to earn the save.
Servite (10-3, 1-0) did its offensive damage in the sixth inning. With two outs, USC signee Hayden Woodson singled and Miles Scott hit a two-run home run. Woodson went 2 for 3 with a triple.
Oregon signee Josh Hollis had nine strikeouts for JSerra (5-6, 0-1) in 5⅔ innings. Carter Meza had two hits with two stolen bases.
The two teams continue the three-game series Wednesday at Servite.
Also in the Trinity League:
St. John Bosco 2, Orange Lutheran 1: Orange Lutheran (11-2, 0-1) suffered a walk-off loss to St. John Bosco in its Trinity League opener.
Colt Peterson allowed just one run in five innings with three strikeouts and four hits allowed. Wyatt Hanoian hit a run-scoring single in the fifth inning and Brady Murrietta had a double.

In the National Classic:
Cypress 14, La Habra 0: Cypress (10-7) scored six runs in two separate innings in a rout of La Habra.
Cal State Fullerton commit Noah Johnson went 3 for 4 with four RBIs and Paul Dominguez had a double with two RBIs.
Wyatt Rosales got the win on the mound with just three hits allowed in five shutout innings.
Anthony Gomez and Isaiah Romero each had doubles for La Habra (8-7).
In the Ryan Lemmon Invitational:
El Modena 3, Salem Hills (Utah) 0: Ryan Novajoski had 11 strikeouts for El Modena in a shutout win.
Novajoski allowed just five hits in 5 ⅔ innings for El Modena (4-11). Jacob Lopez and Nathan Valdez drove in runs for the Vanguards.
Woodbridge 9, Viewmont (Utah) 0: Dylan Mutuc pitched a shutout with just six hits allowed for Woodbridge (13-5).
Nolan Stottlemyer went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Warriors. Vaughn Tase and Vincent DeMarco each drove in two runs.
Canyon 10, University 4: James Allen had a home run and five RBIs for Canyon (11-5) in a win over University.
Chip Mertz had a double, a triple and a RBI for the Comanches. Matt Frometa added a double with two RBIs.
Brennan Collins had two RBIs for University (8-6). Luke Emrich and David Wu each hit doubles.
Villa Park 11, Fullerton 6: Ezra Ornelas had a triple with two RBIs for Villa Park (12-4).
Austin Park had two hits with two RBIs and Jake Nobles had a double with three RBIs.
Mason Park had a home run, a stolen base and three RBIs for Fullerton (10-4-1). Malachi Meni had a double, a stolen base and two RBIs.
Irvine 6, Crean Lutheran 2: Drake Brito had a big game on the mound and at the plate for Irvine (8-10).
Brito allowed one earned run in 5⅓ innings with nine strikeouts and had a double with two RBIs.
Smith Spivey went 2 for 4 with a RBI.
In the Sunset League:
Newport Harbor 6, Los Alamitos 4: Newport Harbor scored three runs in the seventh inning in a road win over Los Alamitos.
Henry Mann hit a two-run single in the seventh inning and Cameron Hatfield drew a bases loaded walk. Adam Martin had three hits with two RBIs for Newport Harbor (10-2, 6-1) and Gavin Guy hit a double.
James Reveles hit a home run for Los Alamitos (11-3-2, 4-3) and Damon Valdez went 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
Huntington Beach 4, Corona del Mar 2: Huntington Beach remained undefeated in Sunset League play with a win over Corona del Mar.
Trevor Goldenetz had a stolen base with two RBIs for the Oilers (10-1, 6-0). Ethan Porter added a RBI and Cole Clark had two hits. Otto Espinoza got the win and allowed zero earned runs in three innings with five strikeouts.
Fountain Valley 6, Edison 3: Isaac Lomeli went 4 for 4 with two stolen bases and a RBI for Fountain Valley (9-6, 3-3).
Tyler Peshke went 2 for 3 with a stolen base and a RBI. Josh Grack pitched four shutout innings with three strikeouts.
Shane Timmons and Gavin Johnson each had two hits with a double for Edison (9-7, 2-5).
In the Orange League:
Magnolia 15, Santiago 2: Gabe Segura had a home run and six RBIs for Magnolia in a dominant win over Santiago.
Santiago Cortez had a triple and two RBIs for Magnolia (5-5, 3-1). Bernie Reynoso allowed two runs in six innings with five strikeouts.
Chris Arceo went 3 for 3 with a triple and two runs scored for Santiago (1-10, 1-3).
Saddleback 3, Bolsa Grande 2: Brandon Cotoc threw four no-hit innings for Saddleback.
Ricardo Marquez had three hits with a double and three runs scored. Anthony Lopez had a stolen base and a RBI for Saddleback (8-5-1, 4-0).

Aliso Niguel 26, Schurr 0: Aliso Niguel scored at least four runs in every inning in a blowout win over Schurr.
Andrew Watson went 5 for 5 with two doubles and six RBIs for Aliso Niguel (12-5). Austin Hays had three hits with a double and two RBIs. Roman Filidel went 2 for 2 with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs.
In nonleague games:
Katella 17, Valencia 3: Hector Perez had a home run, a double and four RBIs for Katella (11-3).
Alejandro Tinoco went 2 for 2 with a RBI and Kevin Reyes Mejia had a stolen base and two RBIs.
