Mountain Dews Fruity New Flavor Sounds Promising

Mountain Dew fans are absolutely thrilled by what's said to be its newest flavor.

The popular soft drink brand previously revealed it would be launching an alcoholic version of its famous Code Red variety, aptly called Hard Mtn Dew Code Red. Insiders also teased that an "ultra rare flavor" would be headed to stores this summer.

Now, Parade has learned that Mountain Dew is set to launch a new flavor as part of its Baja line: Baja Cabo Citrus.

Whispers of the new flavor started circulating online a few weeks ago, but it wasn't until recently that images of the product were leaked online in the Reddit community dedicated to all things related to the Dew.

"Cabo Citrus in production!" one social media user exclaimed beside a photo of the canned drink.

Fans immediately began inquiring about a release date, to which the original poster (OP) replied, "Not exactly sure, I just have family who works in the production plant by me so I get the notice when they start production but they don’t know when it actually gets released," they added.

Another Reddit user then chimed in, suggesting that the "target date" is "sometime in April," but "some bottlers start to produce it way before" its intended release date, so Baja Cabo Citrus could be on shelves very soon.

Grocery news influencers Snackolator, SodaSeekers and TeamSupernovaFB, were also tipped off by the rumored release, all of whom are reporting the new bev is said to launch in a regular and a zero sugar variety sometime in late April. It is expected to be available in both cans and bottles.

A rep for the Pepsico-owned company did not immediately return Parade's request for comment.

Those who have tried it claim it's similar to a tropical citrus punch and tastes like a combination of tangerine and lime.

"MtnDew is busy this year," another Instagram user joked. "Sheesh!"

"Excited to try it," someone else added. "The Baja blast flavors could just be my favorites in all of Mountain Dew history."

"The Baja spin-offs have been very hit or miss," one more admitted. "This sounds promising tho."
