A Denver Police Department officer was arrested on suspicion of assault related to domestic violence, police officials said Tuesday.

Smith was hired in 2007 and most recently worked at the department’s Denver International Airport bureau. He was reassigned to a non-patrol position while his case goes through the court system.
The Denver Police Department will start an administrative review of the incident after the criminal case concludes.
Smith was released from jail on a $2,500 personal recognizance bond, according to court records. His next court date was not available Tuesday.
