Gene Hackmans Daughter Reveals Where She Wants Deceased Dog to Be Buried

Gene Hackman's daughter Elizabeth Hackman has reportedly expressed her burial preferences for her dad and Betsy Arakawa's deceased dog.

When the legendary actor and his wife were found dead inside their Santa Fe home last month, it was revealed that one of their three dogs, an Australian Kelpie, had also died, and was found laying near Arakawa's body.

In newly-published police footage taken on Feb. 27, Hackman's daughter could be heard on a phone call with a deputy, where she is expressed her wishes to have the dog buried with her stepmom.

"I'm thinking, cremate the dog and bury it with Betsy," she says in the footage published by TMZ on Friday, March 21.

Elizabeth, 63, also requested that the officers save the dog's collar for her to keep, if possible.

"And if the dog was wearing a collar, can you save that for me?" she can be heard asking the officer, who said he would oblige.

The canine, named Zinfandel, or "Zinna," was discovered roughly 10-15 feet away from Arakawa's body. Arakawa, who died of natural causes, specifically, Hantavirus, is believed to have been dead for several days before Hackman died.

The Oscar-winning actor's cause of death was ruled as a result of "severe heart disease," with advanced Alzheimer's disease determined to be "significant contributory factor" in his death.

The medical examiner stated in a press conference earlier this month that it was "a possibility" that the couple's dog died of starvation and dehydration, considering the timeline of its owners' deaths.

Hackman and Arakawa also had two other dogs, both German Shepherds, who were found alive on the scene. The Santa Fe County Animal Control Division already confirmed that they "worked with the family to ensure the safety of the two dogs."
