2025 CA/NV Speedo Sectionals
Feb. 27-March 2, 2025 Oceanside, Calif. SCY (25 yards) ResultsAnother big meet, another dominant performance from 16-year-old Kayla Han.
This time, it was at the Speedo Sectionals in Oceanside, California.
Han, swimming back this year for La Mirada Armada after spending a year swimming for Carmel Swim Club in Indiana, won six individual events at the Oceanside meet.
Committed to Indiana, Han won the 200 free (1:46.32), the 500 free (4:41.92), the 1000 free (9:33.68), the 1650 free (16:05.78), the 200 IM (1:58.40) and the 400 IM (4:07.04).
Her time in the 200 free was just four one-hundredths behind her personal best time of 1:46.28 in that event.
Her performance helped La Mirada to a second-place finish in both the girls’ and combined team standings.
Beach Cities Swimming won the combined and girls’ standings, while Alto Swim Club was on top of the men’s standings.
In the men’s competition, 18-year-old Julien Rousseau of Pacific Swim won three events. A Cal signee, Rousseau won the 500 free (4:20.90) and 1000 free (8:59.84) in personal best times, and also topped the 1650 free in 15:15.67.
Other individual standouts were:
Bella Brito, a USC signee, won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:09.91 and the 100 breast in a time of 59.74. Brito’s younger sister, 14-year-old Gabi Brito, won the 100 butterfly in 51.87 and the 50 free in 22.35. She was also second in the 100 backstroke (53.75). Brito currently has the nation’s fastest time this year in the 100 butterfly (51.87) and the second-fastest time in the 50 free (22.30) for the 13-14 age group. Anthony Dornoff of LaMirada Armanda won the 200 IM in a personal best time of 1:47.94 (old best was 1:48.03) and the 400 IM in a personal best time of 3:47.54 (old best was 3:48.87). Drew Eubanks of The Dolphins Portland Swimming won the 200 breast in a personal best time of 1:54.82 and the 100 breast in 53.31.Combined Team Standings — Top 5
