San Diego FC has announced that two starting players were called up to their countries’ national teams to play in matches ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Defender Paddy McNair will represent Northern Ireland and midfielder Aníbal Godoy will represent Panama during the March break for FIFA international matches.

McNair will be called to play in two international friendlies – against Switzerland on March 21 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, followed by Sweden on March 25 in Solna, Sweden.

Since debuting for his country’s national team in 2015, McNair has played 72 games for Northern Ireland, scoring seven goals and recording five assists.

Godoy, who has the second-most caps in Panama’s history with 143 appearances since 2010, will represent his country in the Concacaf Nations League finals, March 20-23.

Panama will play in the semifinal against the U.S. men’s national team on March 20 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

If they advance, the final will take place on March 23 when Panama could face Mexico or Canada.

This international break from March 17-25 makes the fourth of the football calendar year, with the last one coming in June.

Domestic club teams are required to release their players to international teams when they are called up to a squad.

SDFC travels to play Austin FC on Sunday.
