Ice tea brand Lipton has found itself in hot water with fans after suggesting its popular peach-flavoured beverage was being discontinued.
The drinks firm posted a statement on Instagram claiming it was ending the production of peach ice tea for the foreseeable future, although other flavours would remain.
News the beverage was being bumped off left consumers surprisingly un-refreshed.
Venting their distaste on social media, one posted: “Lipton deleting the peach flavor is so unserious like it’s the original flavor why’d you do that what the hell.”
While another wrote: “Discontinuing Lipton’s PEACH flavor makes no sense, it’s the best one and the most popular one??? Do they want the brand to shut down.”
However, just as outrage appeared to reach boiling point, another missive appeared on the company’s Instagram site which poured cold water on the whole matter.

What has Lipton said about the peach ice tea stunt?
Wednesday’s missive suggested the firm had got their dates wrong and it was a premature April Fool prank.
A headline stated “Peach is Here to Stay” followed by a post which read:
“Oops, is it still March?
“Got my dates mixed up…thought it was April Fools already.
“I’d never take away your favourite flavour, pookies.”
