Hallmark star Lyndie Greenwood is explaining her absence from social media by revealing some difficult news.
In a post on Instagram on March 17, the actress, 42, revealed that she’s battling breast cancer.

“Hey there, friends. I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been dealing with some real life stuff,” the post reads. “The big C is a doozy! It’s complicated and ever-changing. There’s too much to say here, so I’ve started a blog. If you want to hear more about my experience, you can join me on Substack. There’s a link in my bio. I’m sending out big love and hugs to you all!! Xox #breastcancer.”
The words are accompanied by a photo of Greenwood in the desert wearing a brown sweater and sporting a shaved head, a result of her cancer treatment.
Fans and some fellow actors were quick to comment with words of support.
“Oh you beautiful Woman You’ve never been more stunning. I am sending you so much LOVE ?? thank you for sharing,” one wrote.
“Omg sending you all the love and healing energy I can. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. ❤️,” commented fellow actress Felicia Day.
“Sending you love and healing energy!!!❤️????????,” commented Holly Robinson Peete.

In the SubStack entry Greenwood referenced in her Instagram post, she revealed that she’s “wrestled with the idea of posting on social media since I received my diagnosis.”
“Cancer is big and deep, and social media, at best, scratches surfaces. I have a burning desire to be authentic in this time of my life - or rather it stings when I try to be anything else. As if I am suddenly incapable of facade, what with all my energy being stretched thin for healing.”
She went on to reveal that on Sept. 12, 2024, a mass in her right breast was diagnosed as cancer. When she received the call from her doctor, she was at a friend’s house in Vancouver, Canada getting ready to shoot an “indie roadtrip movie.” Despite the news, she stayed and worked on that movie.
After finishing the film, Greenwood had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery and is now doing four rounds of chemotherapy.
Through it all, she remains optimistic. In one part of her SubStack essay, she wrote, “Nothing lasts forever. Not mood. Not opinion. Not belief. Not even cancer.”
Greenwood’s credits include roles on the series Sleepy Hollow and Nikita as well as the films Magic in the Mistletoe and Holiday Heritage.
