Orville Peck fans are about to see a whole lot more of their favorite alt-country star—literally.
While Peck hasn't appeared without some type of covering on his face since the release of his 2019 album Pony, the singer told the New York Times in a recent interview that he'll be ditching his trademark masks when he makes his Broadway debut as the Emcee in the current revival of Cabaret.

“The mask is part of my expression personally as an artist and a very big personal part of me,” Peck said. “But I’m here to play this role and to bring respect and integrity and hopefully a good performance to it. It’s not about me. I’m not trying to make it the Orville Peck show.”
“I wouldn’t have necessarily done this for just anything,” he added. “But this is probably my favorite musical of all time.”

Peck, 37, who trained as an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and appeared on London’s West End, opened up about his love for the classic show in a January interview with Variety.
“I grew up as an actor and doing theater, and for a lot of people this is a really coveted role in musical theater because it’s so open to interpretation and an incredible character,” he said.
Peck's turn in Cabaret kicks off on Monday, March 31, and is scheduled to run through Sunday, July 20. Peck will be joined by Hadestown star Eva Noblezada as Sally Bowles, with the pair taking over for Adam Lambert and Moana star Auli‘i Cravalho.
