England and Ireland hoping for unlikely Six Nations title on Super Saturday

The Six Nations draws to a close today and it is still all to play for on the final weekend.

There will be no Grand Slam for France due to their surprise defeat to England last month but Fabien Galthie’s side are huge favourites to be crowned champions.

Ireland, who lifted the trophy last year, head into the final weekend third in the standings as they prepare to face Italy, while England travel to Cardiff hoping to pile more misery on Welsh rugby fans.

The French then host Scotland in Paris on Saturday night.

    Welcome to Super Saturday

Good afternoon and welcome to The i Paper’s coverage of Super Saturday in the Six Nations.

To recap, here are today’s fixtures.

Italy vs Ireland Wales vs EnglandFrance vs Scotland

As we head into the final weekend, France are in the driving seat but England, Ireland and Scotland are all mathematically still in with a chance of lifting the trophy.

Wales and Italy, meanwhile, are fighting for the more dubious honour of avoiding the wooden spoon. It’s likely we won’t know the final standings until after France’s evening match against Scotland, so stay tuned throughout the day.
