President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, attended the opening night of Les Misérables at The Kennedy Center on June 11 in Washington, DC.
Trump, 78, wore a black tuxedo, while Melania, 55, wore a black gown with gold accents. Prior to arriving on the red carpet, Melania accessorized her outfit with black sunglasses.

Les Misérables, originally a novel by Victor Hugo, is a play set in 19th-century France that follows an ex-convict’s journey toward redemption amid political unrest. One of the key themes in Les Misérables is the cruelty of poverty and the justice system.
Trump and Melania’s outing comes amid ongoing ICE protests nationwide, with Los Angeles being at the forefront of media coverage.
Amid the protests, Trump has deployed thousands of National Guard troops to the city, as well as 700 active‑duty U.S. Marines, to join law enforcement on the ground.

Several politicians and celebrities have spoken out against ICE, including Kim Kardashian.
“When we’re told that ICE exists to keep our country safe and remove violent criminals—great, but when we witness innocent, hardworking people being ripped from their families in inhumane ways, we have to speak up. We have to do what’s right,” Kardashian, 44, began via Instagram on June 11.
“Growing up in LA, I’ve seen how deeply immigrants are woven into the fabric of this city. They are our neighbors, friends, classmates, coworkers, and family. No matter where you fall politically, it’s clear that our communities thrive because of the contributions of immigrants,” she continued.
Kardashian concluded, “We can’t turn a blind eye when fear and injustice keep people from living their lives freely and safely. There HAS to be a BETTER way.”
