Ed Sheeran took to Instagram Wednesday, March 12, to post a photo from his early years that only hints at what he’d later become.

Fans, of course, were quick to comment on the photo with one suggesting that Sheeran’s choice of eyewear helps date the photo.
“Why was everyone wearing minuscule glasses like that in the early 2000s ?”
Sheeran began his recording career back in 2004 and was just 13 when he released his first independent album, though it wasn’t until 2011 that he signed with a major label and experienced mainstream success with the single “The A Team.”
Other fans also weighed in on the pic.
“This kid made some of the best music that humans will ever hear?,” another fan wrote.
“He’s been cooking and now he’s ready to serve ✨,” posted another.
“This is so cute I can’t even??,” wrote another fan.
“You can notttt just casually drop things like this ??,” joked another fan.
“Back when sleeping on a couch in London writing you need me I don’t need you,” another observed, referencing the title of Sheeran’s 2009 EP.
“This boy is in fire ?,” another fan commented.

Though Sheeran has been out of the spotlight for a bit, he plans to return this year with a new album titled Play. The first single from the album, “Azizam,” is inspired by his wife, Cherry Seaborn. He announced the song’s title with a sweet pic of Seaborn posted on Instagram on Valentine’s Day.
