"We haven't shot [it yet]. We have a script we all like, but we're just trying to figure out logistics with New Line Cinema and wait for their official green light," Hauser tells Parade, reiterating that he's "really happy" with how the script turned out. "I think it's gonna be really special and it's scary to embark on a project of that size, but I think it's with the right people, so that's good."

As for when filming will begin, Hauser adds that "the hope" is that they will have cameras rolling in "Q4 of this year." The film will also mark Josh Gad's directorial debut.

Hauser, who was tapped to portray Farley in April last year, also tells Parade that he's spent time with the late comedian's family after they gave their blessing in preparation for the role.

"I've met three of [his] brothers: Tom, Kevin, and John, all separately and that's been very informative," he says. "I also have been watching footage that kind of got lost, like footage that they only released recently because of the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live. I've been getting to see new footage of Chris, which sheds light on who he really is when he's not performing, and that's been immensely helpful."

He adds: "But the heavy work, the real homework, doesn't start till probably three months before production begins, because if I start right now and we don't shoot it til October or November, I'll go crazy. It'll be too much. I gotta pace it out."

In addition to portraying Farley, the Emmy winner is gearing up to wrestle in MLW's Battle Riot next month. Hauser tells Parade that thanks to his training, he's already lost 20 pounds and is feeling good, despite dealing with a few injuries he sustained from previous matches. He also says wrestling is a "lifelong dream" of his, and competing against some of the top wrestlers in the business has been both challenging and rewarding.

"It's 40 men entering a ring and you have to pin them or throw them over the top rope to win the match," he explains of his upcoming match. "Last man standing wins and this year, whoever wins is taking home the World Heavyweight Championship title, which is a lot of pressure, both in having to face all of those competitors to survive it and to then potentially carry the weight of the company's championship title. It's a lot."

Tickets for the MLW Battle Riot VII are on sale now, and the event is slated to take place on Saturday, April 5, at the Commerce Hotel & Casino in Commerce, California.
