While Alex Drummond Scott, the eldest child of The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond, continues to adjust to life as a new mother, one recent night's sleep was interrupted by shocking sirens and serious weather.

"Last night was a little crazy for us over here in Dallas, Texas. We kinda had some crazy weather," Alex began. "I don't know if there were any actual confirmed tornados, but the sirens went off at like 5 a.m., and we were dead asleep."

She recalled waking up her husband Mauricio Scott, grabbing their daughter Sofia and running into the living room. Alex explained that the couple's bedroom doesn't have a floor above it, so she's "always so nervous that like a tree is gonna fall through it or something."

The couple's game plan to handle the threat was to hide in the closet under the stairs, but thankfully, it didn't end up being necessary, with Alex saying, "The weather didn't end up being bad enough to need to do that, but it was still very scary. There were 78 miles per hour winds."

Thankfully, the family appeared to be safe after the scare, with no mention of any property damage as a result of the weather.

According to CBS News, the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area was on tornado watch on Tuesday morning for hours, with the report echoing Alex's statement about winds being more than 70 miles per hour in some areas. A tornado formed in Irving, and The Dallas Morning News reported that it traveled less than half a mile in distance before it dissipated, with winds in the tornado up to 110 miles per hour.
