San Diego FC expects the largest crowd in Snapdragon Stadium history for the team’s inaugural home opener at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

But get there early to be a part of that history and there’s much more than the match, against St. Louis City SC, to celebrate.

    Pre-game

The stadium lot will open at 2:30 p.m. and an hour later SDFC FanFest will begin, featuring music, food and activities outside the venue. At 7 p.m. the club also will treat fans to a pre-match show.

The previous record attendance was 64,130 for a concert by country star Jason Aldean. The largest crowd to see soccer at Snapdragon was 34,248 for an exhibition between Manchester United and Wrexham AFC.

    Take the trolley

Transit officials on Friday encouraged fans to take transit to avoid parking hassles. Green Line trolleys from the Metropolitan Transit System stop at Snapdragon Stadium.

SDFC will encourage trolley ridership as well, hosting special events at the Old Town and Grossmont trolley stations, featuring giveaways, raffles, music and more.

    MTS pass

In addition, fans can ride the trolley to Snapdragon at a discounted price with the SDFC All-Season Pass. Rides to all home matches cost $56 with the pass, a 33% discount off normal fares.

    Stadium basics

Snapdragon’s bag policy allows only small bags or clutches no larger than 4.5-inches x 6.5-inches. Clear bags may be brought in as long as they not exceed 12-inches x 6-inches x 12-inches.

Additionally, the stadium is cashless, so guests should bring cards for purchases.

    TV and radio

If you can’t make it to the stadium, catch the kickoff for SDFC’s first home match live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, with radio broadcasts available in English on San Diego Sports 760 AM (KGB-AM) and in Spanish on TUDN 1700 AM.

    First game

SDFC upset reigning MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy, 2-0 in their Major League Soccer debut Sunday. Danish striker Anders Dreyer scored twice in the second half in Carson.

The squad joined MLS as the 30th team, following closely on the heels of Saturday’s opponent, St. Louis, which joined the league in 2023 and set a MLS expansion team record with 17 victories.
