Today has experienced many changes in recent months—but recently, the NBC morning show's third hour shook things up for a special occasion.
On Friday, Feb. 28, co-hosts Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Craig Melvin reported live from New Orleans ahead of Mardi Gras, which falls on Tuesday, March 4 this year.

"A special start to a special show ??? the 3rd Hour of TODAY is LIVE from New Orleans!!" an update from Today's Instagram account read.
In the accompanying video, a colorful parade float packed with dancers drove by as a live band played "When the Saints Go Marching In."

Another clip showed Roker busting a move as an honorary 610 Stomper.
In the comments, the Instagram account for the all-male performing group based in New Orleans replied, "He’s a natural!"
Many others loved Roker's energy, leaving messages like, "He rocked it!" "Amazing ???," and "Go Al!!"

Melvin also joined in on the stomping fun in a separate Instagram video.
"@craigmelvinnbc knows, when you see the @610stompers, you can’t help but jump in. ??," Today wrote in its caption.
"Made my morning," one viewer shared of the clip showing Melvin hesitating before dancing with the performers.

In a different video, the three anchors donned Mardi Gras masks as Roker cracked a fitting dad joke.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so bright my mama calls me sun," the meteorologist quipped while holding a sun-shaped mask to his face.

Yet another clip shared on Today's Instagram grid showed co-hosts Roker, Dreyer and Melvin participating in a crawfish-peeling competition.
