Less than a year after leading the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals, Luka Doncic will find himself playing against the Mavs Tuesday night in what will likely be an emotional game for the young superstar.
The dynamic of Doncic going against his old team just five games since they shockingly traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers will undoubtedly make it a game to watch, and draw plenty of betting interest, but the odd circumstances combined with Doncic’s shaky play since joining LA won’t make the 25-year-old’s performance easy to project.

Doncic has eclipsed this number just once in four games with the Lakers, but that one time just happened to be his last game, against the Nuggets, which provided some hope of him finally being back in game shape and comfortable in his new surroundings. That’s all I needed to see to say he’ll be ready to hurt some feelings on the Mavs. Especially with this game being in LA where he won’t be as nervous as he would be if it were in Dallas.

Pick: Over
The Mavericks still don’t have Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford or Dereck Lively II. This is not a team equipped to do much on the glass, and Doncic is the perfect guard to take advantag. He had 10 and 11 assists in his last two games, respectively.

Pick: Under
Like his points prop, Doncic has been over this number just once in his time with the Lakers, though that one time coincided with his worst shooting performance (5-of-18, 14 points vs. Charlotte). With the way I expect him to have it rolling Tuesday, his teammates should defer to him as a scorer and keep his assists down.
O/U 3.5 made 3-pointers
Pick: Under
With no bigs, the Mavericks will have a hard time defending the paint and that’s exactly where I expect Doncic to live. Teams don’t typically take a ton of threes against Dallas anyway, and the Mavs have defended against perimeter shots particularly well over the last eight games.
