Buzz buzz buzz! The third season of Yellowjackets is about to arrive, and it’s been a long time coming (so long, in fact, that you may feel like you too were stuck in the Canadian wilderness for 19 months). While some of the show’s biggest mysteries were solved in Season 1 and 2—Shauna’s husband, Jeff, was the blackmailer, for example—plenty of other secrets have been haunting fans for a while now. Keep reading for a full list of all the questions Yellowjackets still needs to answer in Season 3. Plus, some tantalizing theories.

The first season kicked off with the Yellowjackets seemingly trapping one of their own in a spiky pit before eating her, but who was she? She was wearing Jackie’s gold heart necklace, but Jackie (Ella Purnell) died of exposure in the Season 1 finale.
Theorists on Reddit predicted that because of the girl’s height and dark hair, it was Lottie (Courtney Eaton), but we now know that's not possible. Maybe that opening scene was actually one of Lottie's clairvoyant visions, indicating that they would succumb to cannibalism, even if not in that way exactly?
Or, what about Mari? Hive members on Facebook have said that, given that she has dark hair like Lottie, she's a strong possibility.

Yellowjackets?
After Season 2, one thing we know for sure is that Nat (Sophie Thatcher) is an Antler Queen but is she the Antler Queen?
From the first episode, cannibalism is implied when the pit girl meets her demise and we then meet a clan of people—covered in head-to-toe animal hide—awaiting mealtime. In the scene, an unknown character who fans have dubbed "The Antler Queen" wears a crown of deer antlers and mesh that obscures her face. Once she gives her nod of approval, the group feasts on what is believed to be one of their teammates. She's clearly the HBIC.
Most of the citizen detectives on social media pegged Lottie as the AQ and for a while, it seemed as though they would have been right. But like Natalie, it appears as though Lottie was just one of many Antler Queens and her reign is over.
There are few options remaining as to who could be the Antler Queen (the one specifically depicted in episode 1) and many think it could be Shauna (Sophie Nélisse). If things in the forest get as grim as they appear from the first shot of the show, it would make sense that modern day Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) would be looking to hide whatever happened out there.
The teen Yellowjackets didn’t invent that creepy symbol that keeps showing up everywhere—it was already carved on the trees when they crashed and etched into the floor of their cabin of doom. But if they didn’t create it, who did? And what does it mean?
It certainly seems to hold a lot of meaning for the girls in the 90s, especially Lottie. She gives a blanket with the symbol on it to Shauna as a gift for the baby and Taissa (Jasmine Savoy Brown) follows the symbol carved into trees at night.

How did Javi survive?
Travis’s little brother, Javi (Luciano Leroux), ran off into the night as the Yellowjackets had their shroom-induced orgy that nearly resulted in the murder of Travis (played as a teen by Kevin Alves). Presumed to have been dead, Javi is found when Tai and Van (Liv Hewson) are out looking for a tree with the symbol carved into it. They bring him back to the cabin but he does not respond to them, only mentioning a mysterious She that may have saved him. At the end of Season 2, Ben (Steven Krueger) finds some tunnels. Perhaps this is where Javi may have been hiding out?
In both the past and present, Taissa has a problem with sleepwalking. When she wakes up, she finds herself sitting in trees or munching on dirt. What’s causing this? One popular fan theory is that she’s experiencing the real-life condition pica, which causes people to eat substances with no nutritional value. Pica can be caused by malnutrition and undue stress, both of which Taissa is experiencing. It sounds plausible, but it still leaves some other questions unanswered. Who is the man with no eyes that Taissa keeps seeing, and why do the women in her family have visions? Why does Mari (and Tai) hear dripping in the cabin?
Mari appears most affected by the sound of dripping water in the cabin, though Tai claims she can hear it too. Mari does hallucinate the image of blood dripping in the cabin. Theories for why Mari hears it mostly relate back to the idea that it's a bad omen for her (especially with most assuming she is pit girl).
Lottie believes that The Wilderness demands a sacrifice, typically a death that will help the girls survive out in the woods. Jackie, Javi and Shauna's baby have all been deemed to have been a sacrifice. The adult versions believe The Wilderness followed them back and that another offering must be made, resulting in the death of Nat. So is it true? Is there something spiritual out there looking over the team in exchange for human sacrifice? How do the Yellowjackets get rescued?
All of the girls’ attempts to get out of the woods have thus far failed. The plane exploded when Laura Lee (Jane Widdop) tried to fly it out, and Taissa’s search for civilization ended with Van getting mauled by a wolf. We saw in Season 2 a shot of the girls getting off a plane back home and we know that at least Taissa, Misty, Shauna, Nat, Lottie and Travis all eventually got out—but how? Time will tell.

Have we met all the survivors?
Speaking of being rescued, many wonder whether we have seen all the adult Yellowjackets who make it back home. The Yellowjackets have not mentioned anyone else, so it may be that even if there are more survivors that Shauna, Lottie, Misty, Nat and Travis don't know they returned. So far, we only know that Jackie, Javi and pit girl die in the wilderness, though surely more deaths are to come. However, that leaves plenty of other members of the group to remain alive.
